Re: RT 1150 no servo brake failure light flashing

OK...
I have had the disgnoses which is identical to "belledog"s symtoms on the forum titled another abs problem, in that I had similar flashing light progression into constant 4hz with only residual braking.
Took it to dealer who diagnosed the same, abs module faulty due to one pump over pressuring.
They asked BMW for goodwill assistance, who declined due to the bike being too old.
I have written to BMW who have acknowledged by automation my e-mail. I have asked for;
1. should the bikes be recalled to due unexpected brake failure?
2. would BMW assist me with any goodwill by replacing the part free of charge, I am prepared to cover the labour myself, as I would imagine that the manufacturer would be keen to carry out research with the faulty part.
I have not had a response from them so far.
I dont know how the system works with the vehicle inspectorate new vehicles are tested for type approval, but I would imagine that manufacturers would struggle to get vehicles passed if a braking system suddenly reduced in effieciency to 30% due to a malfunction with a the abs unit whilst being tested?
Taking on a big corporation is very intimidating, but look how Toyota are paying the price now.
My dilemma now is whether to go for abs removal, or replace or repair the unit.
There are companies which offer recon abs units for cars but none advertise for bikes. Are all abs units similar in operation, or are the motorcycle unit which incorporate servo pumps unique?
Can anyone recommend a an agent who does this.
Additionally, I have spoken to the manufacturer who supplied these units
"FTE automotive" who no longer manufacture these units and do not offer a recoditioning service.
