Ducati for sale: 1 billion Euro

Ducati is up for sale. Reporting the news is Italian financial paper Il Sole24ore, which isn't known to speculate in their stories or print unfounded rumors.
According to the article, Italian private equity group Investindustrial, owned by the Bonomi family, intends to sell the famous marque for a price of approximately 1 billion Euro. This would be three times what they paid for it.
"Ducati is the perfect company, but in order to grow further it needs a world class industrial partner. This year we will work towards finding that partner," Investindustrail president Andrea Bonomi told the Financial Times.
The most likely buyer would be a competitor or large automobile company, with the names Mahindra (currently competing in Moto3) , BMW, Volkswagen, and Mercedes, especially because of their marketing relationship with Ducati, coming to mind. Of course we expect this news to be denied by Ducati, but we hope that Investindustrial makes a formal statement, considering that the Financial Times is also reporting the story.
