There are many reasons why one might decide to remove the charcoal canister, but for me the straw that broke the camel's back was the possibility of fuel running into the cylinder, creating a hydraulic lock and a bent connecting rod when the bike is started. The possibility of this happening is very real, since any GS I ride off road will spend some time laying on its side, where fuel can flow from the tank vent and fill up the charcoal canister. Next time the bike is started, the solenoid controlled valve opens and that fuel is siphoned虹吸管down into the left throttle body where it runs down into the cylinder. At a minimum the engine will run poorly until the fuel clears, and for me it's not worth taking the chance on bending a rod in the worst case scenario.
